Creation Care Ministry — Laudato Si — Diocesan Action Plan Second Goal
The Diocese of Joliet has released the Diocesan Action Plan for the implementation of Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si’: On Care for our Common Home. In accordance with Laudato Si’, the plan contains seven goals. The second goal is “defense of human life from conception to death, with special attention to vulnerable groups such as indigenous communities, migrant families, and their children, forced to relocate by climate, war, or economics, and those living in underdeveloped countries.”
The plan lists the following possible actions that you can take to help meet this goal.
- Create or expand parish and school libraries to feature a variety of voices and experiences on the impact of water pollution on low-income communities
- Know your neighbors; develop relationships with one another
- Develop awareness of programs that can assist vulnerable persons and support those which accept charitable donations
- Contribute food or financial donations to your parish or community food pantry
